FAQ-U 2 - OOP for CF and Frameworks

Yep, the second issue of the Fusion Authority Quarterly Update is not only in my hand, it's packed and ready to go to all subscribers. But of course, anyone who subscribes before the end of the year gets this issue as well as the previous one in PDF format as well. Trust me, PDF is nice to read once in a while, but nothing beats the solid feel of this journal.

As for content, we're talking an actual book worth of Object Oriented Programming for ColdFusion as well as Frameworks. 120 pages of it to be exact (20 pages over what we expected for this issue). But why listen to me when the table of contents speaks for itself:

Andy Allan's Gravatar I just went to buy a subscription (via Paypal) and I'm confused. If I'm paying via Paypal, why do you need my address and CC details? They're all stored on Paypal already.

And what's the email address/password for??? I'm confused :/

Michael Dinowitz's Gravatar Currently we're using a paypal virtual terminal for CC processing. This means that we get the CC information and run them 'by hand'. This was done in the beginning to handle a number of issues such as future subscriptions that we didn't want to charge till it was closer to the subscription time.
On the top of our list is to ask paypal about direct integration with that account or if we'll need a different type of account to make it automatic.
The un/password is to allow subscribers access to additional resources such as PDFs, code samples, etc.
I'm sorry if this setup was confusing. We are looking on changing it for the better. Making things better is why I'm up at 5:45am and have not gone to sleep yet. :)

Andy Allan's Gravatar Gotcha! Thanks for clearing that up. I'll buy my subscription now (got issue #1 at cfunited and it was an excellent read on the flightback to Scotland).

Ben Nadel's Gravatar I just finished reading the Issue last night. A most excellent issue! I am not sure how it did it, but it somehow pulled a lot of things together in my head. I had a lot of "Ooooh, that's how it works" moments, especially when reading about Mach-ii and Model-Glue.

And just between me and you, I recently read my first ever edition of the ColdFusion Developers Journal and the FAQu blows it out of the water! The difference is night and day. Granted, I have only read one issue of CFDJ and two issues of FAQu, but if I had a been a long time subscriber to CFDJ and then I found out about FAQu, I would have felt that I had been ripped off by CFDJ.

Thanks!

Christopher Bradford's Gravatar So, if I subscribed in October through Google Checkout, should I have already received a PDF copy of Issue 2? (I haven't.)

Michael Dinowitz's Gravatar You should have gotten an email with information on how to download both the first and second issue (a bonus for subscribers). If not, let me know.

I'll send you another email anyway just to be sure.

Rich Leach's Gravatar I just purchased the second edition on PDF only, but I haven't received the PDF or any links to how I download it, can you please provide?

Thanks, and keep up the great work!
